Isn’t your time worthwhile to spend in a useful webinar? Currently  in this pandemic, our world is surrounded by zoom calls , webinars apart from corporates have become effective medium to connect people like us to pursue our interests in a particular field.

Note: I first wrote and published this Article on August 11th, 2020 on my Blog –  ITS MY LIFE but I posted it up here for many of you to get these useful webinar tips.

(Do check out my Blog! I post lot of creative stuff-poems, stories, blog series for creatives)

Since most of us are consumers of knowledge, it is essential that the time we spent is worthwhile.

So friends, relax and read this post while I narrate to you my personal observations and also share useful tips too.

The Best Possible Ways To Get The Maximum Out of a Webinar

1. Be the Boss

Today, we are surrounded by people, companies and brands conducting a informative webinar that could be useful for your career, guide you to  lead a better life or gain to be numero uno .

It is important to choose the right kind of webinar or topic that will help you broaden your knowledge. Ultimately our focus is how we can make the best of a webinar.

Personal TipIncase you are part of a webinar that’s hosted for a group, say employees where you don’t have choice of topic, make it a point to find atleast 2 takeaways from the session.

2. Keep an Open Mindset

Often our knowledge about a certain aspect limits our scope to learn further. We have definite mindset of “know it all” which restrains us to absorb more information. Do you agree?

Well, keeping an open mindset will help you to reason your ideas and also encourage you to think differently about a same topic.

Personal Tip-  I jot down new words, current events related to the topic. Most webinars include current events as examples for audiences to resonate with them. This helps me be on the same page.

3. Listen But Take More Notes

In the past, training and development in corporates included a  workshop for a few days. Remember those shared resources like PPT’S, worksheets, website links ? Presently, a personalized webinar suits many and trainers can diversify their same  content modules to different locations in a short span of time.

Thus, each session is tailor- made to create maximum impact. As our memory span is limited, it is best to take personal notes preferably in pointers to make it user friendly. Attentive listening and taking notes together allows our minds to be more receptive to familiarize with topics in future.

Personal Tip– Recently, I signed up for a webinar on Entrepreneurship. The notes helped me to visualize a mindmap of future venture I dream of. Next time, I needn’t start all over again. Now, if I read on article, say a topic on Small businesses, my knowledge is much deeper than before.

4. Patience Is The Key

Let’s say, you have taken up a webinar to know more about a topic Eg: Web Copy. Since it is a niche topic, there are chances the session could be clubbed with Branding, Copywriting for beginners , Website Designing etc. It is possible that you may lose interest until the actual topic of Web copy is dealt upon. Hold on, that’s when you need patience to listen through all remaining topics.

Why do I need to spend my precious time, Elvira? , you may ask. My answer is, incase you have innate knowledge about the theme and the session is pre-recorded, you can skip other topics. But, suppose, it is a live webinar, then be patient to listen through it.

Firstly, the beauty of a webinar is it’s power- packed information offered in limited amount of time. So, every topic is dealt precisely in few minutes. Secondly, I cannot talk about an alien without giving a brief about planets of different galaxies in outer space, right?

Personal Tip– Though I was super bored to hear the same techniques of affiliate marketing in a session, the mundane theme grew interesting as the speaker gave his own experiences, the industry expectations and listed its potential relevance which turned out to be gold for me.

5. Don’t Shy Away From Asking

Finally, the golden moment we  have been waiting for. The Q &A round where the speaker invites us to share our concerns and voice our opinions. Don’t hesitate to speak up. Even your simple doubt could be a subject worth exploring. This helps us to have holistic view of a topic rather than just walking with keynotes that the speaker has just spoken.

Personal Tip– Mostly, I make brief note of the concepts I wish to know about by some prior research. Also, during the session, if a technical topic has appealed to me in a different way, I normally ask the speaker if he/she could briefly explain through real life examples or stories.

Conclusion

Keep the hunger for learning more. Choose from a variety of topics and signup for a webinar. Some offer courses customized to your schedule and you can learn different topics under the same subject to update your concepts. Webinars gives you an opportunity to learn about a subject in a series of sessions rather than scrolling through multiple links and posts on Google.

Friends, I hope you will have more value-added experience next time you sign-up for a Webinar with these useful personal tips.
